Environment Canada has ended the freezing rain warning which had been in effect across the entire Southwest for much of today.
While originally issued for just the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake forecast region, the warning has been extended to include both the Leader - Gull Lake, plus the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills regions.
The warning was issued noting that a band of freezing rain, or rain freezing on contact with the ground, had formed from the Alberta border to Kindersley to near Swift Current. This band of rain moved slowly southeast throughout the morning and early afternoon before moving out of the region.
Snow accompanying the storm caused a travel not recommended advisory on the TransCanada Highway from Rush Lake to the Junction of Highway #19 because of heavy snow and slippery and icy sections.
