Local Business Opportunity for the Swift Current Long-Term Care Project

Southwest contractors and businesses are invited to register for a chance to meet with the three design groups remaining in the bidding process to construct Swift Current's new Long-Term Care Project.

A Business to Business Networking Session has been scheduled for Dec. 17 in order to link Southwest businesses with the three businesses that will build the new 225 bed Long-Term Care Centre via a P3 process. Interested businesses must register by noon on Dec. 11 via email to sharon.lejeune@gov.sk.ca. The business to business opportunity is being coordinated by The Cypress Regional Health Authority, SaskBuilds, and the Swift Current Chamber of Commerce.

This formal opportunity will allow companies to promote their services and experiences to the design teams.

"It’s an opportunity for the three proponents that have been short listed to come out to Swift Current and start to meet some of the contractor, the trades people, and the organizations that may have an interest in getting involved in this capital project," explained Bryce Martin, Executive Director of Communications for the Cypress Health Region. "It’s an opportunity for those relationships to start."

It was announced last week that Integrated Team Solutions, Plenary Group, plus Willow Healthcare Partners have been invited to move forward to the Request for Proposal stage for the project.

"These proponents do have a list of their preferred contractors that they have as part of their original bid, but they’re also going to be looking for the local trades people to play a role in the construction of the capital project, because it will certainly be that they’ve got the skills people with the necessary skills and trades right here in Swift Current or within the province. It will also reduce their cost factor in providing a quote or a proposal to meet the budgetary qualifications that are in the RFP," Martin said.

"I think their final proposal that they will present in March will include what types and numbers of work force or resources that they have available to them. So as long as they will meet the input specifications of the project within the budgetary amounts that are allotted having the ability to utilize the local trades people, which will reduce their overall cost, certainly should play a role in the success of their project. If they have to transport people in from out of the area at all costs, it certainly isn’t going to improve their proposal."

The Dec. 17 meeting will be hosted at Walker Place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Registered businesses will have specific meeting times in order to provide equal access to the proponent teams, along with the rules of engagement plus tips and tools for the opportunity.
