Freezing rain causes three accidents on TransCanada Highway near Morse

Morse RCMP were reporting slick conditions along the TransCanada Highway earlier this morning after responding to a trio of accidents.

At approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, Morse RCMP were dispatched to an accident involving a jackknife semi in the westbound lane of Hwy #1 approximately halfway between the communities of Morse and Herbert.  There were no injuries as a result of this accident.  The accident has caused traffic to become backed up in the westbound lanes. The Dept of Hwys has arrived on scene to assist with the traffic flow and a tow truck has also arrived.  It is believed that as soon as the semi is moved, the traffic will be able to move through the area.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Morse RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover occurring approximately four kilometers west of Morse, near the intersection of Highway #19 and the TransCanada Highway. A truck driving westbound lost control and rolled. The female driver and lone occupant was taken by ambulance to hospital with what were reported as non-life threatening, but serious injuries.

Morse RCMP have now been dispatched to another jackknife semi in the westbound lane near Chaplin.  It is reported that the semi is partially blocking the path of the Highway.  RCMP had not yet arrived on scene and details are limited.

RCMP would ask motorists to use caution when driving on Saskatchewan roads during this inclement weather.  The rain mixed with near freezing temperatures are making for treacherous driving conditions in a number of areas.  Anyone traveling in the areas west of Moose Jaw towards Swift Current can expect delays.  Please remember the requirement to slow to 60 kilometers per hour when passing police or tow trucks.
