Southwest Saskatchewan is under a severe thunderstorm watch for a second consecutive day.
Environment Canada is advising that an area of showers and thundershowers will continue to track through Western Saskatchewan this morning, but a second band of storms could develop later this afternoon and evening. The watch is in effect for the Swift Current - Herbert - Cabri - Kyle - Lucky Lake plus the Shaunavon - Maple Creek - Val Marie - Cypress Hills forecast regions.
The watch notes: "clearing skies in the wake of this first batch of precipitation will bring a return to warm unsettled weather. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop later this afternoon and into the evening. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe with large hail, locally heavy downpours, and strong winds."
A soaking rain moved through most of the Southwest this morning, while the Leader area experienced a heavy thunderstorm Wednesday night.
