FLEUR DE LYS, N.L. - A review by Halifax police has concluded that the RCMP was justified in its decision to Taser and shoot a man during an altercation in Newfoundland last year.
In August, the RCMP responded to a report of a man attempting to break into a residence in Fleur de Lys.
The RCMP says the 29-year-old suspect fled to his own property where he allegedly lunged at a police officer with a knife after being Tasered.
The force says one officer then fired a single round from his revolver.
The Halifax police department was enlisted to review the incident and concluded that the RCMP was justified to use potentially lethal force to defend the life of another officer.
Anthony Walsh is charged with assaulting a police officer, assault with a weapon, mischief and uttering threats.
