HALIFAX - A former Liberal member of the Nova Scotia legislature has died.
Joe Casey would have turned 92 on March 3.
Casey represented the riding of Digby for 19 years after he was first elected in 1970.
He took a break in 1984 to deal with health issues but returned with a strong majority in the 1988 election.
Casey, whom friends described as a remarkable and funny storyteller, served as deputy speaker for several years.
Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil has extended his sympathies to the family saying Casey made a difference in the lives of the people he served.
