RCMP in Shelburne, N.S., seize 10,000 illegal smokes from vehicle, home

SHELBURNE, N.S. - RCMP officers in Shelburne County have seized more than 10,000 contraband cigarettes from a home and vehicle.
Officers with a search warrant entered a house in Sandy Point on Tuesday and found more than 5,000 cigarettes and a quantity of cash.
A 67-year-old man from Sandy Point was arrested the same day after he was seen driving a vehicle through Shelburne.
The Mounties said more than 5,000 contraband cigarettes were found in the vehicle.
Police have not released the man's name but said he will appear later in provincial court on charges under the federal Excise Act.
