CORNER BROOK, N.L. - A consultant says members of city council in Corner Brook, N.L., should get a pay raise.
In a report, Graham Letto Municipal Consulting recommends the mayor's salary for 2010 be increased to between $33,500 and $35,500, a jump from the $29,432 the mayor gets now.
Letto recommends the deputy mayor's salary be raised to between $23,000 and $25,000, up from $18,500.
The consultant says the remaining councillors should be paid between $21,500 and $23,500, up from $16,195.
The report also recommends eliminating the use of the Consumer Price Index to adjust council remuneration in favour of a formula that takes senior staff salary adjustments into account.
Letto is scheduled to hold a public information session on March 2 to explain the report and its recommendations.
