LOS ANGELES - Three months after a criminal charge was dropped in Canada, a U.S. judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit filed against a Black Eyed Peas manager who punched blogger Perez Hilton in a nightclub last year.
Attorneys for Hilton and Peas' manager Liborio Molina announced in court Tuesday they had reached a settlement agreement.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John S. Wiley agreed to dismiss the case but retained jurisdiction in case the settlement falls apart.
The terms were not discussed and Hilton's attorney, Joshua Blum, declined comment after the hearing.
Molina also apologized last year for punching Hilton at a Toronto nightclub as part of the agreement to drop assault charges against the manager.
The scuffle happened after the openly gay blogger called Black Eyed Peas' leader will.i.am a slur for homosexuals.
His written apology, delivered last November iun Toronto, said: "I apologize for what I did on June 22 of 2009, even though you engaged in highly offensive comments, including a homophobic slur to my clients, I acknowledge that these kinds of issues should not be resolved through a physical response."
As part of the peace bond agreement reached in the Toronto criminal case, Molina agreed not to contact Hilton except through his lawyer, can't carry any weapons for 12 months, can't come within 100 metres of Cobra NightClub, where the event allegedly occurred, and donated $500 to Toronto's Red Door Family Shelter.
The civil lawsuit claimed Hilton was seeking to protect his rights to free speech and claimed Molina attacked him because he made critical comments about the Black Eyed Peas' new album, "The E.N.D."
