New Glasgow man jailed
for assaults on police, civilians
TRURO - Assaulting several police offices and civilians contributed to a 181-day jail sentence for a New Glasgow man convicted in provincial court in Truro recently.
Wayne Derrick Borden, 35, of 327
Granville St., Apt. B was convicted of three counts of assaulting Truro police officers and two counts of civilian assaults, one of whom was a woman. He was also convicted of three counts of breaching probation and five counts of breaching court undertakings.
Borden's sentence also included 18-month's probation and he was further ordered not to consume or possess alcohol or illicit drugs, not enter into establishments were booze is sold and he must successfully take counselling for alcohol consumption, domestic violence and anger management.
As well, he was placed under a 10-year firearm's and weapon prohibition and must submit a sample to the DNA bank.

Breaching probation
sends Debert man to jail
TRURO - Drinking while on probation cost a Debert man some freedom after he pleaded guilty to the offence recently in provincial court.
Nelson Myles Mumford, 23, of 57 Upper Debert River Rd., was sentenced to 30
days in jail.

Truro man handed suspended
sentence after pleading guilty
TRURO - A Truro man convicted of assaulting a woman was handed a suspended sentence and 12-month's probation after pleading guilty in provincial court. Vincent Lionel Boutlier, 41, of 22 Willow Lane, was also ordered to take counselling for domestic violence, anger management and alcohol consumption.
