OTTAWA - An early-morning fire has destroyed CTV's Ottawa newsroom, a local station known as CJOH, the network said Sunday.
It put damages at more than $2.5 million.
Among the losses were the local news archives of Ottawa's history and the 37-year video history of anchor Max Keeping who is set to retire April 1, CTV said in a story published on its website.
It was not immediately clear whether local broadcasts will be affected.
CTV said it could be days before staff can return, but plans to continue production from the A Channel building in the Byward Market were moving forward.
The cause of the blaze is not known, but an investigation is underway.
CTV said that flames began on the second floor of the Merivale Road building sometime before 4:30 a.m.
It took 70 firefighters and 18 fire trucks more than two hours to bring flames under control. No injuries were reported.
