Two men facing firearms charges; one facing attempted murder

APPLE RIVER - Two Cumberland County men are facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, following an incident in Apple River on Sunday.

Joshua Robinson Nuttall, 24, is facing one count each of attempted murder, assault with a weapon, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon.

Nicholas Owen Phinney, 26, is facing one count each of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, using a firearm in the commission of an offence and possession of a weapon.

Both men had been remanded into custody and were scheduled to appear in provincial court in Amherst at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Members of the Cumberland District RCMP responded to a call just before midnight Sunday and an investigation revealed that a disturbance ensued at a residence when two men were asked to leave. The two left, and returned a short time later with a shot gun.
