BIBLE HILL - Police searching for a man who had been involved in an armed standoff on Tuesday inadvertently came across a drug operation, RCMP Sgt. Al Affleck says.
While doing door-to-door checks along Jameson Road as part of their "intense ground search" for a suspect who had fled from his residence into the woods, Affleck said police discovered a hydroponic marijuana grow operation in process at another location.
Officers returned on Wednesday to that residence with a search warrant and found an indoor grow operation and grow equipment. Police also seized unsecured firearms including a .38 calibre revolver, a 308 rifle and 30.6 rifle, a "substantial quantity" of ammunition, a bag of ecstasy and 1.5 pounds of harvested marijuana. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
