CHARLOTTETOWN - A guilty verdict has been handed down in the case of a 40-year-old Prince Edward Island man charged with assaulting an amputee.
Provincial Court Judge Nancy Orr delivered the guilty verdict today in the case of Todd Percy Getson.
Getson was charged in connection with an assault on Allison McNally, a 59-year-old from Scotchfort, P.E.I.
The accused had argued that he punched McNally because he was acting in the defence of his daughter whom he thought was in danger of being hurt by McNally.
But Orr did not accept that argument, saying that Getson retaliated for a perceived wrong.
Orr has adjourned the case for sentence to Nov. 2nd pending the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
