ST. PETER and ST. PAUL, P.E.I. Investigators say arson is the cause of a fire that severely damaged a home in northwestern Prince Edward Island.

Police and three fire departments responded to the blaze which engulfed a two-story vacant home located on Western Highway Route 2 in the community of St. Peter and St. Paul.

There were no injuries as a result of the fire which occurred early Saturday.

The residence was under renovation, but a news release from the Fire Marshals Office says the renovation work was not the cause of the fire.

Police are requesting public assistance with their investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact West Prince RCMP.
