N.L. RCMP arrest man wanted on two attempted murder charges

ST. JOHNS, N.L. A Newfoundland man accused of a double stabbing has been remanded on two charges of attempted murder.

William (Billy) Grouchy was charged today in St. Johns provincial court following his arrest early in the day.

Wearing handcuffs and leg shackles, Grouchy waved to a group of supporters as he was escorted into court.

The RCMP says a tip from the public helped lead to Grouchys arrest at about 6 a.m. at a home in Chamberlains, N.L.

He is accused of stabbing two men in Tors Cove, N.L., on Nov. 7.

Grouchy will be back in court again on Dec. 5.
