PARRSBORO It was decided at Parrsboros Sept. 23 council meeting to set the municipal election advanced poll dates to Thursday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 14, which will take place at the Fire Hall in Parrsboro.

The Oct. 14th date is mandatory, but we need to decide when to have the second advance poll, Parrsboros CAO Ashley Brown said.

After deciding to set Oct. 9 as the additional advance poll, Brown reminded everyone present that the advance poll times are from noon to 8 pm.

In other council news, Coun. Lois Smith announced the discontinuation of the current skateboard park.

Due to vandalism over summer months the damage to the wooden structures and ramps are beyond repairing, the councillor said.

Despite the acts of vandalism, Smith added that Parrsboros Youth Town Council along with the directional aid of Parrsboros recreation director, Marc Chagnon, and the Department of Health and Recreation plans are underway to begin a fundraising campaign for a new skateboarding equipment for Parrsboros youth.

Smith added although plans are also underway for the development of new equipment there is no definite time frame as to when this will happen.

Its still in the early stages, the group involved will be looking at plans in the very near future to determine what equipment they will begin fundraising for, Smith said.
