TRURO - Another political party is making a pitch to Independent MP Bill Casey.

The Progressive Canadian riding association has invited both Casey and members of the Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley Conservative Association to join them.

The local riding association has made the offer, and I support their decision, said party leader Tracy Parsons, herself a resident of the riding. Bill Casey should be right at home in the Progressive Canadian Party. We have the centrist traditions of the former Progressive Conservative party. One way in which we differ is that our party accepts that there are times when MPs are put in a situation where they have to vote their conscience or in the interest of their constituents. Mr. Harper does not understand that some issues are not partisan.

Casey, who has already been approached by the Green Party, has indicated his desire to remain an Independent MP and to run in that capacity in the next election.

I have not changed my mind on this. Im fully prepared and am looking forward to running as an Independent, Casey said Wednesday from Ottawa.

The Progressive Canadian (PC) Party is a registered federal political party comprised of progressive-conservative minded Canadians rebuilding from the roots of the former Progressive Conservative Party.
