Charlottetown mariner Geoff Ralling is on the final leg of his round-trip journey to L’Anse aux Meadows in northern Newfoundland to P.E.I.

After a rough 14-hour crossing in high winds and waves from the Iles-de-la-Madeleine to Souris with his wife, Jane Ralling, and Guardian reporter Mary MacKay on Sunday, he made his way to Wood Islands.

Today, he will be joined by MacKay and others for the final sail to Charlottetown Harbour, where he is expected to dock by mid-afternoon.

MacKay’s final instalment for her Viking Voyage series runs in The Guardian Saturday.
