AMHERST – In a special weather warning for the region, Environment Canada warns rain, and a lot of it, is on the way.
Heavy rain is expected today in Cumberland County.
Periods of heavy rain are likely for tonight and much of Friday.
A complex and slow moving trough of low pressure approaching the region from New England will bring scattered showers across much of Nova Scotia today.
Periods of rain will develop tonight and will become heavy at times on Friday. The rain is expected to taper to showers Friday morning over extreme southwest regions and later in the afternoon over central regions.
There is currently much uncertainty on forecasting the intensity and speed of this feature. Consequently determining which regions will receive the heaviest rainfall remains extremely difficult at this time. It is certainly possible that rainfall warnings may become required for some regions as the evolution of this system becomes clearer.
At this time rainfall amounts of anywhere from 25 to 45 mm are expected with this system.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required.
