Burbine, Matthews receive jail sentencing

Matthew Ernest Louis Burbine, 28, of Maccan, was sentenced to 90 days in jail, minus three days for time served, plus a fine of $1.30 for unlawfully possessing codeine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Burbine was also handed two concurrent sentences of 90 days in jail, minus three days credit, after pleading guilty to breaching a recognizance to refrain from controlled drugs and substances, and breaching a recognizance to keep the peace and be of good beahviour.

William Kenneth Matthews, 44, of Springhill, was fined a total of $1,262.41 or 26 days consecutive custody after being found guilty of operating a motor vehicle while his license to do so was revoked or suspended.
The incident occurred July 13, in Springhill.
Matthews was also sentenced to two concurrent sentences of two-months in custody after being found guilty of failing to stop when reasonable in order to evade police and operating a motor vehicle on Church Street in Springhill in a manner dangerous to the public.
Those incidents occurred July 4, 2013, in Springhill.
