SYDNEY — A 39-year-old Glace Bay man who was the focus of an arrest warrant is now behind bars and awaits a bail hearing set for Aug. 1.

David Joseph Goyan of Bay Street is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in oxycodone and trafficking in hydromorphone. The offences allegedly occurred Aug. 9 in Sydney.

He is also facing six counts of breaching court orders and single count of possession of stolen property.

Goyan was scheduled to appear in court in April and when he failed to show, an arrest warrant was issued. He was picked up earlier this week by Cape Breton Regional Police.

The accused is now on remand at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre pending the outcome of his bail hearing.
