Springhill anniversary celebrations continue this weekend

SPRINGHILL – Rainy weather prevented kids from parading down Main Street Springhill on Thursday, so they paraded inside the Richard Calder Arena.

The Doll Carriage Parade and Bicycle Rodeo was part of the anniversary celebrations recognizing the 125th Anniversary of the Town of Springhill.

The celebrations continue this weekend.

Friday’s celebrations include:

A turkey burger sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springhill Royal Canadian Legion, music on the front step of the Anne Murray Centre from 12-1 p.m., and a Street dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre.

Saturday’s celebrations include:

The Miners Picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The picnic includes children’s games and a balloon release and a barbecue.

The weekend also features the Anne Murray Centre’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations.

Friday is Fan Fair Day.

It’s an opportunity for Anne’s fans to share their memorabilia with the public from 1-4 p.m. at the teen centre at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre.

Saturdays schedule is as follows:

The VIP luncheon runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the community centre.

Anne Murray will visit the Anne Murray Centre at 2 p.m.

There is an Anne Murray Tribute Concert at 7 p.m. at the community centre.
