HALIFAX - A teenager has been ticketed after a 12-year-old boy was grazed by a car in a crosswalk.

Halifax Regional Police officers responded to Herring Cove Road and Sylvia Avenue around 2:50 p.m. Sunday.

According to a release, a car was stopped at the crosswalk and the overhead lights were flashing as the boy started crossing Herring Cove Road.

The driver of the car didn’t see the pedestrian and started to move forward at a “slow rate of speed,” just touching the boy’s foot with the car’s tire.

Emergency Health Services assessed the boy at the scene, but he wasn’t hurt.

The 18-year-old male driver of the car was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
