Former lawyer with Hicks LeMoine moves from Supreme Court to appeal court

HALIFAX – Chief Justice of Nova Scotia and the Court of Appeal Michael MacDonald, joins Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Joseph Kennedy in welcoming two new judges - one to each of their Courts.

Cindy A. Bourgeois, Justice of the Supreme Court, has been appointed to the Court of Appeal. And the Jamie S. Campbell, Judge of the Provincial and Family Courts, has been appointed to the Supreme Court.

The two appointments were announced on Friday June 13, 2014 by Peter MacKay, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. Both appointments take effect on June 22nd, 2014..

Justice Bourgeois will replace Justice Linda Lee Oland on the Court of Appeal. Justice Oland has elected to become a supernumerary judge as of June 22nd.

Judge Campbell will be replacing Justice Bourgeois on the Supreme Court now that she has been appointed to the Court of Appeal.
