Mattinson sentenced to five years for failing to remain at accident

AMHERST – Gary Allan Mattinson, 56, of Oxford, was sentenced in court on Monday to five years custody after pleading guilty to two charges.

Mattinson was sentenced to four years custody, consecutive to any other sentences, plus a 10-year driving prohibition commencing on the expiration of his sentence, after pleading guilty to causing bodily harm to another male while operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or a drug.

Mattinson was also sentenced to one year custody, consecutive, after pleading guilty to having care and control of a motor vehicle that was involved in an accident with the male who was caused bodily harm and, with the intent to escape civil or criminal liability, failed to stop his vehicle, give his name and address, and offer assistance to the injured party, the male, who appeared to require assistance.

The incidents occurred Sept. 22, 2013, on Main Street in Oxford.
