Pugwash, Oxford schools learning though service on Monday

PUGWASH – Students from Pugwash and Oxford will roll up their sleeves and put their shoulders into their work as part of Service Learning Week across Nova Scotia on Monday.


Following are their class projects:

Pugwash District High School

Project: The O2 students at PDHS will be refurbishing the “gate house” at Cyrus Eaton Park in Pugwash. This is being done in conjunction with another service project currently underway – the construction of benches for seating in the Park.

Date: June 2, 2014

Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Location: Cyrus Eaton Park, Pugwash

Oxford Regional Education Centre

Project: O2 students will be at Heritage Square to operate a BBQ and host a musical afternoon. They will be accepting donations for the local food bank and celebrating the ribbon cutting and official opening of the Square which they have been instrumental in bringing to life.

Date: June 2, 2014

Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Location: Heritage Square, Main St., Oxford

Service Learning focuses student engagement through: active participation; hands-on problem solving; cross-curricular exploration; community involvement; and reflection resulting in meaningful educational opportunities.
