AMHERST - The 272 Amherst Army Cadet Corps held their Annual Ceremonial Review Monday night to celebrate their 103rd year of active duty.

The reviewing officer was Major Robert Eagle, commander of for the Nova Scotia Cadet Detachment.

Eagle talked about the importance of receiving awards.

"Number one is that it offers a feel-good moment," said Eagle. "And second we want to single you out."

Eagle said awards help distinguish cadets from one another, allowing cadets to look to one another for guidance.

"By receiving an award we're saying that you've done something that separates you and gives others something they can work towards," he said.

The award also points a way to the future for the cadet receiving the award.

"Winning an award isn't the end of something, it's the beginning of something," said Eagle. "It lets you know you are moving in the right direction and that your responsibilities have been cranked up a notch."

Award recipients were as follows:

Best Dressed on Parade - Terra Carter
