Matthews sentenced for possessing stolen snowmobiles

AMHERST – William Kenneth Charlie Matthews, 45, of Admore Avenue, Amherst, was sentenced in court last week to a total of 315-days custody after pleading guilty to several counts.

He was sentenced to 315 days custody, consecutive to any other sentence he may be serving, after pleading guilty to the possession of stolen property, a snowmobile, the value of which exceeded $5,000.

He was also sentenced to another 315 days custody, concurrent to other sentences, after pleading guilty to possessing a second stolen snowmobile, the value of which exceeded $5,000.

Matthews was also sentenced to 120 days custody, concurrent to other sentences, after pleading guilty to failing without lawful excuse to comply with an order to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

The three incidents occurred between Sept. 26, 2013, and Dec. 15, 2013, in Springhill.

He was also sentenced to 90 days custody, concurrent, after pleading guilty to attempting to assault a peace officer with the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Unit while he was engaged in the execution of his duty.

He was sentenced to 90 days custody, concurrent, after pleading guilty to assaulting the same peace officer while he was engaged in the execution of his duty, and he was sentenced to another 90 days custody, concurrent, after pleading guilty to failing to comply with an order to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

The three incidents occurred April 11, 2014, in West Amherst.
