TORONTO – A former member of the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers is the winner of Big Brother Canada.

Jon Pardy, a 23-year-old student from Clarenville, N.L. won the Slice Television competition on Thursday, winning cash along with $25,000 from the Brick and a $10,000 trip courtesy of Twistos.

“I came into the game and my goal was to get past week one so anything beyond that was icing on the cake,” Pardy told Friday’s The Morning Show on Global. “So the fact that I got to the point where I did is so surreal and so amazing.”

Pardy beat out 15 other contestants to win the competition.

Pardy told the Morning Show that he plans to look after his grandparents with a new kitchen.

Pardy played for the Ramblers for parts of three seasons between 2008 and 2011 after being acquired from the Prince Edward Island Rocket of QMJHL. He was traded to Yarmouth in 2011.

In 86 games with the Ramblers he had nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points and picked up 261 penalty minutes.
