SPRINGHILL – Police here responded to 46 weekend calls during the month of April.
The weekend of April 4th saw police respond to the bulk of those calls, with 21 requests for assistance coming in from the public. The weekend of April 11 witnessed 10 calls, seven calls during the weekend of April 18, and another eight calls were received during the weekend of April 25.
During those time frames, police received reports of harassment, request for assistance, 911 complaints under the Liquor Control Act and Motor Vehicle Act, hit and run, alarms, found items, a stolen bike, assault, property checks, protection of property, suspicious persons, enforcement of town bylaws, and break and enters.
Springhill has witnessed a number of break and enters involving theft of copper, acting chief Dean Ruddick said.
During the month of April police conducted a number of check points and summary offence tickets were issued under the Motor Vehicle Act and Liquor Control Act.
The first weekend of May – May 2nd – saw 12 calls for assistance coming in from the public. Those included complaints of mischief, harassment, requests for assistance, suspicious persons, disturbance, found items and complaints under the Motor Vehicle Act.
