Two organizations will go door-to-door in Amherst Saturday morning

AMHERST – Saturday morning is the perfect time to give, and you don’t even need to leave home.

The Cumberland Y Service Club & Amherst Y’s Menettes Spring Food Drive runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., while the Nickels for Notes fundraiser will see about 250 band and choir students from E.B. Chandler Junior High School and Amherst Regional High School collecting nickels in their tin cans from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Army, air and sea cadets, in conjunction with other community volunteers, will be collecting food for the Amherst Food Bank, while the band and choir students will collect money to support their various music programs.

People not at home at during the food drive can leave a food bag on their front step.
