HALIFAX – The former managing editor of the Amherst Daily News is among several journalists with TC Media to receive nominations for the Atlantic Journalism Awards.

Brad Works, who left Amherst in 2012 to become managing editor of the Summerside Journal-Pioneer, was nominated in the Best Page Presentation: Newspaper category.

The page was from last spring’s RBC Cup tournament held in Summerside.

He’s up against Mike Landry and Sonja Schrick of the Telegraph-Journal of Saint John and Nadine Fownes of the Chronicle-Herald.

The awards will be presented at a gala dinner and awards event at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel on Saturday, May 10.

Brian McInnis, Nigel Armstrong, Jocelyn Lloyd and Wayne Thibodeau of the Guardian were nominated for their work on the Stanhope Beach Resort Fire, while Keith Gosse of the Telegram in St. John’s was nominated for his coverage of the Patrick Street Fire.

Amy Woolvett, Greg Bennett and Kathy Johnson of the Shelburne Coast Guard were nominated in the Breaking/Sport News Reporting: Print category for their story A Sea of Sorrow, Christopher Vaughan of the Georgian of Stephenville, N.L. was nominated in the Arts and Entertainemnt Reporting category for Maxim Remembered.

Tara Bradbury, Rhonda Hayward and Ken Simmons of the Telegram of St. John’s were nominated in the Best Multimedia Feature for their work on Living With Death.
