A 19-year-old Trenton man has entered a guily plea to a charge of attempted murder.

A 19-year-old Trenton man has entered a guily plea to a charge of attempted murder. Shane Matheson was accused of stabbing 27-year-old Scott Jones in New Glasgow last October.

PICTOU – A 19-year-old man has entered a guilty plea to a charge of attempted murder in the stabbing of a New Glasgow man last October.

Shane Matheson of Trenton entered the plea in Supreme Court in Pictou early Thursday.

All other charges have been stayed by the Crown.

Sentencing will take place on June 12 in Pictou.

Scott Jones, 27, was attacked at approximately 2 a.m. on Oct. 10 in New Glasgow by Matheson, severing his spinal cord.

He’s been left with lasting injuries.

Earlier this week, Matheson waived his right to a preliminary inquiry and requested a Supreme Court date.
