Not much wonder most of us don't bother with the Amherst news...even if you're not a great reporter haven't you ever heard of spell/ grammar check. ..oh and maybe a bit of PROOF READING...hope they catch the person but who knows what was reported correctly what kind of food did he let on anyways? Hopefully the victim isn't too seriously hurt and this ends in their favor.

When is the town of Amherst going to realize what a waste of money and resources they spend(at our expense) on having a local police force? Regardless of cost, the town police force should be dissolved and the RCMP brought in to police the town. I'm sure the local force could find suitable employment.

First of all let me say my heart goes out to this poor individual and I hope it ends favorably for them. But now for my point on this article. “The suspect is described as being tall with a slight build, wearing a blue, yellow and white jacket, dark sunglasses and jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 667-8600 or Crime Stoppers …” Let me get this straight. The local police want people to call them if they know a male person who has a blue multicolored jacket and occasionally wears sunglasses? Now I realize that the victim of this crime may have very upset over the whole incident but at 5 pm on Summer Street it is still light out and there is some very important information missing or deliberately left out of this article. With all these specifically mentioned details it appears the police were able to get all of this valuable information from the victim so is there not something else that would assist the public it this quest? And hey it’s a simple question? Was this individual white, black, Asian or of Middle Eastern appearance? Simple and straightforward question. (KISS). What do they expect? Townsfolk to report all of their friends or neighbours who may have a multicolored jacket and sunglasses. Something tells me that in the interest of political correctness here maybe this is being taken too far! By omitting this vital piece of information they are creating a situation where people will be reluctant to call and themselves be interrogated like a criminal to report anything. So there it is, if they don’t get any leads…. ho hum another one gets away. But the good news is, they’ll get another poor soul speeding to work on Albion Street or failing to come to a complete stop at some stop sign somewhere. That will make up for it!
