SPRINGHILL – Nova Scotia Minister of Municipal Affairs Mark Fury will announce the appointment of the transition co-ordinator for the Town of Springhill today.

Springhill council

The anouncement will take place in Halifax at 10 a.m.

The appointment of a transition co-ordinator comes after the town passed a motion during a special council meeting lat Tuesday to dissolve the township and make application to become part of the Municipality of Cumberland County.

Mayor Max Snow says council had spent the previous three months looking at the decision when it became apparent the local government could not address the town's debt and would need to raise taxes just to maintain the present level of services.

I think this is Avery sad time for the people of Springhill. After all the hardship this town has over come. And then to have the present Mayor and council sneak behind the backs of the people of this great Town and put in motion the process to dissolve our town without even asking how the towns people felt .This was a low and cowardly act and I hope these people can look them selves in the mirror and be proud of there actions.
