SYDNEY — A 41-year old man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was hit by a car while walking across George Street on Friday night.

Cape Breton Regional Police report that the man was in a marked crosswalk with an overhead sign when he was knocked to the pavement by a 2003 Green Mercury Grand Marquis at about 7:18 p.m.
The vehicle was driven by a 68-year-old female who was not injured. Her vehicle sustained damage to its fender and windshield as a result of the accident and was towed away by police.
Central Division Patrol officers and members from the Traffic Safety Unit continue to investigate the incident.
