There are a number of events happening in Colchester County this weekend.

Variety of community events in Colchester County

 

Hitchcock live radio play

MARCH 7 & 8 –Radio adaptations of Alfred Hitchcock films The Lodger, Sabotage and The 39 Steps. With 1940s commercials, costumes, music and live sound effects. 7:30 p.m. Tatamagouche Elementary School. Tickets at the door or in advance at Village Florist. Call the florist for ticket prices.

 

Community volunteer income tax program

MARCH 8 – Truro library. Completion of income tax forms for low income people. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 895-4183 for an appointment. Drop-ins welcome.

 

Pancake supper

MARCH 8 – Wentworth Recreation Centre. 3 to 6:30 p.m. Pancakes, maple syrup, sausages, homemade baked beans, brown bread, cake, tea, coffee and juice. Maple products for sale. Adults, $8; children up to age 12, $5; children under five get in for free.

 

Beans, brown bread takeout

MARCH 8 – Economy Recreation Centre. 3:30 to 5 p.m. One litre homemade baked bean, brown bread, eight cookies. Pre-order by calling 647-2603 or 647-2636.

 

Pancake breakfast

MARCH 8 – Truro and District Lions Club is hosting the event. 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lions hall, 1100 Prince Street, Truro. Bacon, sausage, pancakes and syrup, baked beans, toast, coffee, tea and juice. Adults and teens, $8; children ages six to 12, $6; five and younger get in for free. Profits for the Colchester Food bank.

 

Gospel coffee house

MARCH 8 – Truro Nazarene Church. 7 p.m. Freedom Road and Friends. Lunch provided. Free-will offering.

 

Colchester’s Children: 1850s – 1950s exhibit

MARCH 8 – Colchester Historeum, Young Street, Truro. 2 p.m. Featuring many children’s activities, historic costume, work on a family tree, scavenger hunts and more.

 

Chase the ace

MARCH 8 – Engine Room Pub, Truro. 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $1 and there are weekly winners. Draw the ace of spades to win more than $1,700.

 

Mixed doubles dart shoot

MARCH 8 – Dianne Weatherbie and Don Stuart Memorial event. Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche. 10 a.m. Canteen and bar services. $20 per team. Call 657-3228 or 657-2172 for more information.

 

Pancake, maple syrup brunch

MARCH 9 – North River fire hall. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local entertainment. Adults, $10; seniors, $9; five to 12 years old, $5; children younger than five get in for free. Proceeds to the fire brigade.

 

Jam session

MARCH 9 – Great Village Masonic Lodge. 30 Station Rd. 1 to 5 p.m. Open mike, dance floor, shared lunch, tea and coffee. Donations will be accepted.

 

Community supper

MARCH 9 – Three-course meal by chef Shawn Crouse. North Shore Recreation Centre. 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Adults, $15; children 12 and younger, $7.
