AMHERST – A 48-year-old Springhill man is facing charges under the provincial Revenue Act for selling tobacco with out a retail permit following an investigation Thursday by members of the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit.

The unit, with assistance from the Oxford RCMP, conducted the investigation that saw three people arrested in Oxford and a quality of cigarettes and tobacco seized.

A 48-year-old Tatamagouche woman is facing charges under the Revenue Act for possession of tobacco on which tax has not been paid and purchasing tobacco not from a retail vendor.

A 35-year-old Oxford woman is facing charges under the Criminal Code for conspiracy to commit a summary conviction offense in attempting to purchase tobacco not from a retail vendor, as well as a charge of resisting arrest.

All three people were released from custody and are scheduled to return to provincial court in Amherst on May 12 to enter pleas to the charges.
