Amherst Police have arrested two following a disturbance at a Havelock Street residence.

AMHERST – Two males are facing several charges following an incident on Havelock Street on Tuesday. 

The Amherst Police Department responded to a complaint of a fight at a residence on Havelock Street.  Responding officers found a 24-year-old male who sustained serious injuries to his head. 

The male was transported by Emergency Health Services to the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.

Officers later arrested a 28-year-old man who was involved in the assault.  The male has been charged with aggravated assault and three counts of failing to abide to conditions on his undertaking. 

He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Thursday. 

An investigation into the matter has revealed that the male victim had assaulted a female at the residence earlier and that the 28-year-old male had assaulted the victim in retaliation. 

The male who sustain the injuries has also been charged with domestic assault and four breaches to his probation order. 

He is slated to appear in court on March 3 for plea.
