Town drops tender process for LED streetlights

SPRINGHILL – The Town of Springhill is turning off the lights on its pursuit for a tender to convert its streetlights to light emitting diodes [LED].

The decision to drop the tender process was made during Tuesday’s regular council meeting, with the town opting to allow Nova Scotia Power [NSP] to continue being the owners and administrators of the streetlights.

A motion was made for the acting Chief Administrative Officer [CAO] to advise the tenders of council’s decision.  


Garbage removal contract extended

The streetlight conversion wasn’t the only request for proposals the town opted-out of.

Coun. Doug Dobson resinded his January-motion for proposal to handle the town’s solid waste removal, and making a new motion to extend the present contract with G.K. Hunter Ltd. until March 2015, with a 1 per cent increase.
