Forestry management workshop coming to Springhill

SPRINGHILL – A new development in forest management is making its way to Springhill.

The Forest Ecosystem Classification (FEC) is aimed at forest professionals, woodlot owners those interested in management of natural resources. The Nova Scotia section of the Canadian Institute of Forestry is rolling out a technical workshop in eight communities in the province and on Thursday, March 13, as well as an evening forum.

For forestry professionals, the afternoon workshop runs from 1-5 p.m. at the Nova Scotia Community College’s Cumberland Campus. Registration is $25, and participants will receive a copy of the FEC manual.

The evening forum is open to woodlot owners and anyone else who is interested at no cost, beginning at 7 p.m. Participants in the evening forum will receive a copy of  the woodlot owner’s guide to FEC for Nova Scotia.
