AMHERST – The Amherst Rotary Club is set to celebrate another birthday by presenting another Community Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

Heather LeMoine of Amherst will be the recipient of this year’s honour during the club’s anniversary dinner on Monday, March 3 at the Wandlyn Inn at 12:15 p.m.

LeMoine is being honoured for her contributions to the Cumberland Health Care Auxiliary and Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church.

The club is celebrating its 79th anniversary at the dinner.

The club has presented the award since 1996 in recognition of a community member who has provided leadership and service to the community within the spirit of the ideals and motto of Rotary.

Previous winners of the award include Jack Matthews, former premier Roger Bacon, the late Allie Daley, Phyllis Blumel, Bill Hopper, Art ‘Sonny’ Foster, the late Theo Mansour, the late Roy Maltby, Gil Collicott, Vern and Ruth Short, Dr. Gillian Lawrence, Jean Miller, Gerry Cormier, the late Susan Taylor, Phyllis Cameron, Gerry Helm and Daren White, who received the award last year.

The recipient receives a medallion, lapel pin and certificate from Rotary International while the Amherst Rotary Club makes a U.S. $1,000 donation to the Rotary Foundation in support of humanitarian projects around the world.

The award is named for the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris.
