SPRINGHILL – Three consecutive weekends netted 36 calls for assistance, with the sweetest weekend of the year warranting the most response.
Fifteen calls for assistance came in during the weekend of February 14th, including reports of threats, alarms, suspicious vehicle, 911 assistance, complaints under the Motor Vehicle Act and Liquor Control Act, unwanted person, insecure building and theft under $5,000, as well as provide winter parking assistance to the Town of Springhill’s public works department.
The weekend prior – Feb. 7th – nine calls for assistance we received. An unfounded break and enter, property check, assistance, fraud, alarms and reckless driving were reported to the department.
On the weekend of Jan. 31, 12 calls for assistance were received, including suspicious persons, a motor vehicle accident and suspicious person.
During all three weekends police conducted roadside checks and issued a number of summary offence tickets.
