AMHERST – Schools are cancelled and the sun is peaking out but slippery roads and a possible thunderstorm are still in the forecast.

Environment Canada is predicting a few rain showers this morning then flurries late this afternoon, with a risk of thundershowers this morning. Rainfall amount 10 to 15 mm. Fog patches dissipating this afternoon. Wind east 50 km/h gusting to 80 becoming south 30 gusting to 50 this morning then southwest 40 gusting to 70 late this afternoon. Temperature falling to plus 2 this afternoon.

Flurries ending this evening then partly cloudy. Amount 2 cm. Wind southwest 40 km/h gusting to 70 increasing to 60 gusting to 90 this evening then diminishing to 40 gusting to 60 overnight. Low minus 5.

Environment Canada has also issued a wind warning for Cumberland County and the Cobequid Pass region, as well as renewing its rainfall warning for the area.
