RIVER HEBERT – More than 700 customers in the River Hebert area were without power for several hours on Sunday night.

The outage was caused by a vehicle striking a power pole along a snowmobile trail near River Hebert, causing severe damage.

Because of the rough terrain, snow on the ground and serious impact to the pole, it took crews somewhat longer than usual to make the repairs and restore power.

The incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. and most affected had their power back on by 9:45 p.m. The remaining customers were back online by 10:30 p.m.

Those impacted included residents in Joggins, Ragged Reef, Lower, Cove, River Hebert and Jubilee.
