For Provincial Education Week

The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is seeking nominatons of teachers for Education Week.

AMHERST – The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is seeking nominations for teachers who exemplify the Provincial Education Week 2014 theme: Active Citizenship: Get Involved. Take Action, Be the Difference.

This year, Provincial Education Week will be celebrated from April 20 to 26. The week provides a special opportunity for the education community to acknowledge educators for their outstanding work relative to the week's theme.

Active participation in our communities gives every Nova Scotian the opportunity to be involved and forge their own futures. Active citizenship means promoting community involvement by encouraging students to recognize their influential role as prominent members of their communities. Teachers lead by example through the promotion of active participation, service learning, positive digital citizenship, anti-bullying efforts, and local and global awareness. Students actively engaged in contributing to communities, both locally and globally, have the opportunity to experience the range of social, political and economic forces that have determined our past and present. By learning from example, they become the citizens who shape and determine the success of our future.

The CCRSB regional Education Week committee, consisting of NSTU local representatives, elected board members and CCRSB central office staff, will consider all nominations. One name will be selected from each of the three NSTU locals within the board, and those individuals will be recommended to the Provincial Education Week committee to receive provincial recognition during Provincial Education Week. The provincial awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m.  at a location to be determined.

You can access the Provincial Education Week awards nomination form at the school board’s website (www.ccrsb.ca).

The nomination deadline is Friday, Feb. 14.
