Bad weather means that Jean Harrison, manager at Maritime Travel in Amherst, has been busy booking flights for customers.

AMHERST – The travel business is brisk as people flock to warmer climes.

“Bring on the snow,” said Jean Harrison, manager at Maritime Travel in Amherst.

Harrison says travel is up at least five per cent from last year.

“With all this weather up here, we’re working flat out,” said Harrison. “They are booking a lot of the all inclusive trips to Cuba, Dominican, Mexico and Jamaica. They’re doing it all.”

The recent ice storms and sub-zero temperatures haven’t proved as frustrating for people travelling south as it has for people travelling across Canada.

“We haven’t experienced problems with service to the south,” said Harrison.
