Cap on completion set for May 22, 2015

A hard cap on the completion of both phases (new construction and renovation) of the renovation of RHDH into a p-12 facility is May 22, 2015.

RIVER HEBERT-The specifics of the RHDH renovation project were announced Monday, January 13 in a School Steering Committee meeting.

“Dora Construction's ‘hard start’ will be January 20 with the erection of a fence so the digging can start to lay the foundation for the new addition (elementary wing)," stated new School Advisory Committee chair Janice Mills. "The newly constructed addition is set to be turned over for Sept. 2014, at which time it will act as the swing space for the RHDH students during the renovation of the existing RHDH structure. Cap on completion of both phases (construction and renovation) of the project is May 22, 2015."

The 2015 summer break has been alloted to deal with any issues that may arise ahead of the proposed Fall of 2015 opening of the newly renovation P-12 facility.

"September 2015 is set to have the elementary students moved from their existing school to their newly constructed wing of River Hebert’s P-12 school, and grades 7-12 moving back into their newly renovated section.”

The school needs to be demolished. Why waste money renovating when what is needed is a new school. I'm really not a negative person but the children deserve better and they have the right to an education in a sate environment. Renovating is like putting a small bandage on a gaping wound.
