Two arrested for allegedly stealing two snowmobiles

SPRINGHILL – Members of the Cumberland Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the Springhill Police Department, arrested two individuals on Thursday and charged them with two counts of possession of stolen property over $5000 in relation to two snowmobiles, stolen in Collingwood in Sept., 2013.

James Matthews, 35, and James Trimm, 38, both of Springhill, remain in custody and are scheduled to reappear at Amherst Provincial Court on Friday. Trimm also faces a charge of breaching conditions of an undertaking.

During the investigation, two snowmobiles were recovered in December, and were confirmed to be those that were stolen from Collingwood in September.

Charges of possession of stolen property are also pending on a third individual who will be appearing in Amherst Provincial Court at a later date.
